A perspective on the Oregon Solar Energy Conference (OSEC) from a new set of eyes on the solar industry, Itek Account Specialist Addie Yake.
Addie Shares Her OSEC Experience:
One of the most enjoyable things about entering the solar industry has been witnessing the positivity and excitement generated by the people who work within it every day. This was strongly in evidence at the OSEC!
I have attended conferences in various industries, and found that the OSEC group was unusually welcoming, educational, and ready to take me under their wing.
In my current role as Account Specialist at Itek, I work with many of the same names every day, and had the chance to meet face-to-face with several of those people in Portland. I really enjoyed the opportunity to develop even stronger relationships with our customers, and am eager to see everyone again.
It was also exciting to learn about all the different aspects of the solar industry, as well as different products and projects that people were working on. I was reminded of how much I still have to learn and it inspired me about new directions to extend in my research. I was particularly moved to learn about the wide array of solar-inspired charitable projects that people are involved in, and it is especially gratifying to learn about them from the very people that I serve at Itek every day! Everyone was working on truly amazing things, and all had the same motivation of improving the impact that humans have on our environment.
I’m so happy I had this experience, and can’t wait for next year!
